Course Description for CREATIVE CODING
A quality computer science curriculum not only engages students in interesting, collaborative learning activities using sound pedagogical strategies, but it also ensures that students are learning concepts vital to the deep and broad field of computer science. Creative Coding has been designed to achieve this goal by aligning with the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) K–12 Computer Science Standards. This course is primarily an introductory programming course, units are grounded in an array of standards from the strands of computational thinking, collaboration, computing practice and programming, computer and communication devices, and community, global, and ethical impacts.
Creative Coding I: To introduce students to the world of Coding and Programming in a fun and nonthreatening atmosphere. Students will be introduced to basic computer science topics by using Code drag and drop, SCRATCH and PROCESSING languages. Basic Web design using HTML is also covered This will be followed up with instruction on basic App design, Animation and Robotics. Problem Solving, Story-boarding and Interactivity will be emphasized.
Creative Coding II: To introduce students to the world of Coding and Programming in a fun and non-threatening atmosphere. Students will be introduced to CONSTRUCT game design, Vidcode, HTML language and Swift Playgrounds using IPADs. This will be followed up with instruction on basic App design, Animation.
